Max's All Stars improve to 4-3 at West 4th
Yesterday, Max's All Stars got the win at Kenny Graham's West Fourth Street vs Ice Tea by a final score of 93-78. Branden Gibson, Devon Curry, Marvin Billups Jr, Rob Thomas, Shaun Diaz, Shereef Taylor, TJ Curry and Troy Whittington played smart team basketball and all contributed to earn the W. They worked hard, battled on the boards and did the little things necessary to win. It was a back and forth battle for the first three quarters as neither team could get more than five points of separation on the scoreboard, but in the fourth quarter Max's All Stars turned it up defensively and that led to some opportunities in transition that helped put the game away. TJ Curry did a great job the whole game and really stepped up in the fourth quarter with a number of clutch baskets and great defensive play. Branden Gibson did his job as the glue guy getting everyone involved and being a vocal leader. Shaun Diaz did a terrific job defensively guarding his man, especially in the fourth quarter. Rob Thomas and Troy Whittington controlled the paint, grabbing rebounds and scoring underneath whenever Max's All Stars really needed a bucket. Shereef Taylor and Marvin Billups Jr contributed with some important baskets as well. Max's All Stars did all this despite some horrendous officiating, but that did not matter in the end. It was an all-around team effort. The real Max's All Stars showed up and won an important game, improving our record to 4-3.
