Max's All Stars suffer heartbreaking championship game defeat

Max's All Stars fell short in the Spring 2012 92Y Adult Basketball League Championship Game, suffering a heartbreaking 59-58 defeat at the hands of Team #4 Ray S - Red. Corey Orgias got Max's All Stars off to a good start, hitting a 3-pointer to open the game and set a tone early. Needing an extra ball-handler because Team #4 was pressing early, Angel Gonzalez entered the game and played magnificently. The team played well in the first half, holding a brief 13-point lead. At halftime, Max's All Stars led by eight, but left points off the board by missing a few free throws. Midway through the second half, Team #4 pulled even and from that point on it was a seesaw affair. Defensively, both teams played terrific all night. The officiating was inconsistent, making a number of questionable calls on both sides. Dave Seagers hit quite a few clutch buckets all night and some important free throws down the stretch. However, it was not enough as Max's All Stars came up just a little short for the second consecutive season.
Angel Gonzalez, Branden Gibson, Corey Orgias, Dave Seagers, Kevin Major, Marvin Billups Jr, Patrick James and Ronnie Worthen Jr played hard from start to finish all season long. They stayed determined, focused and motivated. This group of men has changed the culture of Max's All Stars and they have a lot to be proud of.
