Max's All Stars improve to 3-1 at West 4th
Yesterday, Max's All Stars got the win at Kenny Graham's West Fourth Street vs La Familia by a final score of 92-82. Bediako Nyasa, Bryant Crowder, Corey Orgias, Dominique Jones, Joshua Smith, Kwabena Brenya, Patrick James and Prentice Small all contributed and played well to earn the W. In the first half, Max's All Stars only had five players. It was a back and forth seesaw battle again, but Max's All Stars took a slim one-point lead at halftime (38-37). Luckily, reinforcements arrived in the second half as Bryant Crowder, Joshua Smith and Prentice Small showed up. Crowder and Smith helped ignite the team in the third as Max's All Stars finally got some separation on the scoreboard. For the second straight game, Bediako Nyasa hit a half-court buzzer beating 3-pointer - this time at the end of the 3rd quarter to give Max's All Stars a 63-50 lead. Corey, Kwabena and PJ did some very good work getting a lot of rebounds and playing strong defense. Domo was the go-to scorer all game long. Every time La Familia seemed to be getting close, Domo was there with the answer to keep Max's All Stars in front. With the win, Max's All Stars improved their record to 3-1.

Max's All Stars improve to 2-1 at West 4th
Yesterday, Max's All Stars got the win at Kenny Graham's West Fourth Street vs TNP by a final score of 80-76. Bediako Nyasa, Bryant Crowder, Corey Orgias, Damion Staple, Malik Reddick, Patrick James and Spencer Smith put forth an impressive effort against the defending Nike Pro City champions. Max's All Stars was shorthanded and some of the players were tired from playing in the ABC Hoops semifinals/championship game doubleheader earlier. It was a back and forth seesaw battle between the two teams. Nobody could get much separation on the scoreboard - neither team had a lead of more than five points. Bryant Crowder had an electrifying performance, carrying the offense while also pulling down a bunch of rebounds and blocking several shots. Corey, Damion, PJ and Spencer played the bulk of the game with Bryant. Corey and Spencer took turns bringing the ball up and both hit some very clutch shots. Damion and PJ did a great job defensively. In fact, Damion came up with two huge breakaway steals that he took to the house himself. Also, Bediako Nyasa played a few minutes and scored seven points including a half-court buzzer beating 3-pointer to give Max's All Stars the lead at halftime (40-37). Late in the fourth quarter, Corey hit a shot to make the score 80-76 with 1:50 remaining and instantly after his shot went in it started raining cats and dogs! So, the game was called with 1:50 remaining, Max's All Stars got the win and improved their record to 2-1.

Max's All Stars win championship at ABC Hoops; finish with undefeated 10-0 record
Yesterday, Max's All Stars won the championship game at ABC Hoops vs Jetlife by a final score of 67-52. Branden Gibson, Corey Orgias, Daniel Jacas, Doug Herring, Jason Lewis, Marvin Billups Jr, Patrick James, Spencer Smith and Troy Whittington completed the undefeated championship season with an impressive effort in the final game. After a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Jetlife narrowed Max's All Stars lead to just two points at halftime, Max's All Stars turned it up in the second half as they did all season long. Suffocating defense led to easy offense for Max's All Stars and that was the key to victory. Branden guarded league-leading scorer, Mike Liander, for most of the game and held him to a season-low 18 points (10.1 points below his season average). Doug had an extremely efficient game, leading all scorers with 23 points on 12 shots. It was nice to see his family at the game on Father's Day. Also, Troy was named Player of the Game for the sixth time this season and won league MVP for his efforts. Overall, it was a total team effort from top to bottom all season long.
