Max's All Stars grind out fifth straight win
Max's All Stars earned their fifth straight win with a hard fought effort against the previously undefeated Team #4 Ray S - Red by a final score of 74-62. Neither team was at full strength, but Team #4 had a five-point halftime lead. Despite looking flat at times, Max's All Stars overcame some poor officiating and their first halftime deficit of the season. Dave Seagers played the whole game and hit a number of clutch buckets (scoring 31 points), but the exclamation point came with 6+ minutes remaining when Patrick James and Marvin Billups Jr (14 points) were subbed in. Up by 7, James won a jumpball and Billups hit a huge 3 that essentially put the game away. Angel Gonzalez (playing on a bad ankle), Branden Gibson, Corey Orgias, Kevin Major and Ronnie Worthen Jr all made valuable contributions as well. It was a tough, sometimes sloppy game, but Max's All Stars got the all important win and now sit alone atop the standings.

Branden Gibson, Corey Orgias, Dave Seagers (22 points), Kevin Major, Marvin Billups Jr (22 points), Patrick James and Ronnie Worthen Jr all played, making significant contributions to the win. Max's All Stars win third straight to open Spring 2012 92Y season
Max's All Stars improved to 3-0 with an 84-69 win against Team #5 Rob C - Royal Blue. It was a solid all-around team effort. Max's All Stars led the whole game, going up by 20 midway through the second half. The team size and depth advantage were the key to victory as all seven players (Branden Gibson, Corey Orgias - 20 points, Dave Seagers - 15 points, Kevin Major, Marvin Billups Jr, Patrick James and Ronnie Worthen Jr - 17 points) made major contributions against an established 92Y A-Division opponent.

Max's All Stars improve to 2-0
Max's All Stars improved to 2-0 with a forfeit win over Team #3 Brandon A - Purple last night. Instead of a Fall 2011 92Y Adult Basketball League A-Division Championship Game rematch, Max's All Stars faced a team of last minute replacement players and won by a final score of 80-63. Kevin Young made a guest appearance, replacing Dave Seagers in the lineup. Angel Gonzalez and Kevin Major made their Spring 2012 debut and were joined by Branden Gibson, Corey Orgias, Marvin Billups Jr (who threw down quite a few impressive dunks), Mike Viola and Patrick James. It was a sloppy win against a team no one expected to face, but an important W and a fun evening nonetheless.

Max's All Stars add two new players leading up to Spring 2012 season
Max's All Stars fell just short of winning a championship in Fall 2011, but are gearing up for big things in Spring 2012. The team will be adding two new players to the roster.
First off, Michael Orock from Wagner College. The 6'7"/233 lbs big man has a solid Division I background, having played 110 games, staring 50 with career averages of 4.3 PPG, 3.1 RPG and 0.6 BPG. Orock's best statistical season came as a senior in 2009-2010 when he averaged 10.5 PPG, 6.23 RPG and 1.06 BPG. He is big, strong and expected to provide a dominating presence down low.
Also joining the roster will be former Dowling College standout, David Seagers (otherwise known as "Super Dave"). Seagers briefly played with Angel Gonzalez at Dowling and is familiar with everyone on the roster. He has big game experience in college and high-level leagues such as Nike Pro City and Dyckman. "Super Dave" usually plays for the famed Bodysnatchers Basketball Team, but will be joining Max's All Stars for the time being. Seagers averaged 17.0 PPG, 5.54 RPG and 2.98 APG in 109 career games at Dowling and should provide stability and explosiveness to Max's All Stars.
